The Founder's Journey

Rusty Branson

"Most business owners start with a formal business plan. Rusty Branson started with a race car and a jar of rolled pennies."

From the Bull Ring to the Boardroom

After serving in the military, Rusty returned to Arkansas and jumped into the local dirt-track racing scene. Racing is expensive, and to stay on the track, Rusty came up with a "hairbrained" idea to design and sell t-shirts for the racing series. What started as a way to pay for tires and fuel revealed a massive gap in the market: local businesses were hungry for branding, but they weren’t getting the professional attention they deserved.

The "Jurassic" Days

In 1994, Redtop was born in a garage. Armed with $7,500 in savings and an ancient dryer nicknamed "Jurassic," Rusty spent his nights printing shirts and his days building relationships. He learned the business the hard way—balancing ledgers by hand and out-working the competition until the company was moving orders for brands like Blockbuster and Walmart vendors.

Why "A Relationship" Matters

Today, the industry is dominated by "online death stars"—massive websites where you are just an order number. Rusty has intentionally kept Redtop different. After three decades, he knows that while anyone can print a logo on a koozie, not everyone provides the attention to detail required to ensure your 5K run or corporate event goes off without a hitch.

"There was a time in history when people did things and they really put a lot of time and effort in them because it represented them... they wanted to be a craftsman."
